Opening Fall of 2027!

We study how the peripheral nervous system senses and encodes mechanical force, and how these processes are modulated during mechanical pain. To do this, we investigate mechanosensation across biological scales: from the structure and function single molecules to animal behavior.

Research goals

  • Establish the molecular principles of how sensory neurons encode mechanical stimuli

  • Determine the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying mechanical pain and tactile dysfunction

  • Advance MINFLUX nanoscopic fluorescence imaging as a tool for in situ structural biology
